In application of the withdrawal agreement, travel requirements remained unchanged to the end of the implementation period ie up to 31 December 2020.

Prior to 31 December 2020, UK nationals could enter France with a valid passport and vice versa. A visa was not necessary. For British citizens working in France, during the transition period, British nationals remained affiliated to the French social security regime and continued to benefit from the various provisions of the EU rules on coordination of social security systems.
