What is a certificate of residency?
A certificate of residency issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) confirms the taxpayer is resident in Canada and is liable to tax in Canada on their worldwide income.
A certificate of residency is usually obtained to prove to the authorities of foreign countries that a taxpayer is entitled to tax treaty benefits.
