30  Interpretation of Part II

[(1)]     For the purposes of this Part of this Act and of any byelaws made thereunder—

[the expression “child” means—

(a)     in relation to England and Wales, a person who is not [over compulsory school age (construed in accordance with section 8 of the Education Act 1996)];
