The Israeli tax regime is based on a points system in which every Israeli resident receives tax credits based on the number of points they have. For example, families with children receive tax credit points against their taxable income based on the number and age of their children. Married couples jointly receive these tax credit points. Other potential tax credit points include points for a spouse who does not work and points for a spouse who does work.
