This Practice Note provides a summary of the provisions of the Employment Rights Bill 2024 (ERB) and tracks the progress of the ERB through the parliamentary process. It also tracks the public consultations expected on the detail of various aspects of the ERB. The Practice Note provides an overview of the topics covered by the ERB, the relevant clause and/or Schedule details, a brief overview of the relevant provisions, whether further consultation and/or secondary legislation will be required, and links to Practice Notes that set out further details on the current position. It also summarises consultations issued on matters covered by the ERB and gives details of commencement provisions.

We are tracking all the government’s election manifesto commitments in relation to workplace reforms in a separate Practice Note: Labour Government workplace reforms—tracker. You should refer to that Practice Note for information on matters that are not specifically covered by the ERB.
