Securities definition

What does Securities mean?

This is one of the groups of regulated investments defined in the regulated activities order (the other groups being identified as contractually based investments and others).

Securities are defined in article 3 of the RAO as being any of the following investments: shares, debentures, alternative debentures, government and public securities, warrants, certificates representing certain securities, units in a collective investment scheme, stakeholder pension schemes, personal pension schemes, and rights to and interests in these investments. Rule 5 of the Scope Rules set out restrictions in respect of the exempt regulated activities which may be carried on in respect of securities.

Pensions

Assets tradable in standardised units on secondary markets, particularly equities and bonds.
