Author definition

What does Author mean?

The author of a copyright work is the person who creates it. The author is, unless they are employed, the first owner of the work.

The author, in the case of a sound recording, is the producer; in the case of a film, it is the producer and the principal director; in the case of a broadcast, the person making the broadcast in the case of the typographical arrangement of a published edition, the publisher.
